What can I say ... a wonderful and disconcerting masterpiece: a treatise on a "perverse"
musical aesthetics between the end of the 1500s and the beginning of the 1600s,so the one I like!

I finally understand where the whims, the slips, the infinite rhythmic variety, the chords unexpected,
the chromatic scales, the very refined out of tune of my favorite composers like Kapsberger and Piccinini
do come from.
All the fault of Don Carlo Gesualdo, Prince of Venosa! With his crooked, a bit dark music, wich attempts to sound
catchy and then suddently gets frustrated by an harmonic ruin and ramshackle pirouettes at the end greatly
fascinated me and now I listen to the monstrosities of the Prince with ever greater pleasure.
Bor Zuljan's skill in interpreting such complex and unusual pieces is incredible to the point of convincing that
there is unexpectedly a sense even in the apparent disorder of Gesualdo's mind.
The chromatic caprice of Pietro Paolo Melli, which I did not know, is also beautiful too.
Even the best known songs seem completely new since the overall sound, thanks to my bass in naked
(not weighted) gut, is completely different from the one of previous interpretations made by the
greatest lutenists.
In conclusion: a "cerebral" CD, not very easy to listen to, which however explores in all its aspects
an extraordinary era of extreme experiments that has led to the creation of absolute masterpieces
of baroque music and of all times.
A fantastic new record!

Due proposte fantastiche per le vostre meditazioni invernali davanti al caminetto acceso, magari con un bicchiere di Rhum e un sigaro di buona qualità! Giusto per iniziare bene il 2022!
Anzitutto un cd dell'amico M° Philippe Pierlot: ho avuto la fortuna di assistere alle registrazioni del disco avvenute
in una piccola pieve nel meraviglioso e ancora intatto paesaggio dove è nato e vissuto Piero della Francesca.
Sono veramente momenti magici di ascolto e meditazione (ho ormai consumato il cd a forza di ascoltarlo!)
The second proposal is that of M ° Simone Vallerotonda, who absolutely deserves a Diapason d'Or for his new CD Meditation, in which the sound of my gut strings is enhanced to the maximum!
It is in fact a CD that I have now consumed by listening to it a thousand times! A wonderful performance especially for the interpretative ability of a rich French repertoire of a poignant melancholy: not a destructive feeling, but the exaltation of a beauty made even greater by the awareness of its transience.
The sound is then rich and soft, and maximizes the quality of the gut in all its forms, from bass to treble: dear friends lutenists, mount the white plastic strings on your ukulele to play on the beach, but put an historical set in gut for your noble and ancient instrument!

In questo dvd Fiona Stevens riesce veramente a esprimere tutti i colori delle mie corde sul suo violino, sullo sfondo di fascinose vedute di un villaggio tedesco ritratto nella malinconica atmosfera di una tarda estate
E' uscito nel 2020 il bel cd "Georg Philipp Telemann: La Querelleuse" del gruppo The Counterpoints, che ha ricevuto l' Editor's choice del Gramophone Magazine.
Ovviamente il M°Matthea de Muynck suonava corde Drago!
