MARAIS SET
Evrard du Titon de Tillet, in his "Vies des Musiciens et autres Joueurs d'Instruments du règne de Louis le Grand", reports that Marin Marais was the first to suggest the use of the last three strings of the viola da gamba wound in brass:
Inspired by Marais, we propose the following set, which has a radically different sound from that of a normal set with silver-wound basses: the sound of the basses is in fact very powerful and, having fewer high harmonics, is softer and similar to the timbre of gut strings.
the Re cantino and the A are Cantino di Napoli,
the E a Cordoncino di Roma,
the Do a Cordone di Roma,
the Sol the Re and the A bassi are covered in brass wire (protected from oxidation, so it will always remain golden in color)
The set has a discounted cost of 10% compared to a similar customized set and refers to the calculation of the string gauges at a vibrating length of cm.70.
